How To Post Up Writing Samples Online For Free

Monday, September 8th, 2008

First, you need to get those samples together. Once you do that, you can then post them up very quickly indeed – and your samples are online for the world to check out. The great thing is, you now need to send the client only the URL to the site.

For starters, here’s what you can do. Do two short rewrites, two short articles and one paragraph of proofreading/editing. Your rewrites can be 100 words each. Pick out a paragraph of approximately 100 words from a book. Then do a rewrite on it. (Refer to The Art Of Rewriting Guide at: http://www.how-to-rewrite.com). Then do two original articles, maybe 200 words each on two different topics – try and pick two topics that you are interested in so that you can do it well. For the proofreading paragraph, pick a really badly written piece – say 200 words long. Put the original piece up first, then title the one you do ‘Proofread and Edited’.

Now go to a free site like www.weebly.com or www.lycos.com and join them to set up your free website. You’ll find the tools here extremely user-friendly and all you need to do is to fill in your written work. Remember to change the headings: for example, you can have Sample Rewrites, Sample Original Articles, Sample Proofreading/Editing.

That’s it – hit Save and your website with your samples is ready to be displayed to the world! Copy the URL and save it somewhere on your desktop so you can send it off whenever you are bidding for a job.

If you need any help, you are always welcome to write in with your doubts and questions to ohmcomm@how-to-rewrite.com. All genuine mail will be answered.
